  Notes	The Augusta Chronicle, Tuesday, September 27, 1927 Mrs. E.T. Bassett Dies In Valdosta The many Augusta friends of Mrs. E.T. Bassett will be distressed to learn of her death which occurred Saturday night at her home in Valdosta. She was an aunt of Miss Annie Shumate who has been at her bedside for the past week. Mrs. Bassett was a woman of rarely beautiful character, one whose life was one long record of kindness and thoughtfulness for others, and her passing will sadden many hearts. Much sympathy will be felt for Miss Shumate in her loss.
