Funeral services for Elizabeth Virginia Bass, 88, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the chapel of the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens. Bro. Erick Graham will be officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Chapel Cemetery in Athens.
She passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Athens, Texas.
Elizabethe was born November 19, 1922 in Henderson County Texas to Frank and Elizabeth Blann Hodge.
She married her husband May 5, 1944 in Athens, Tx, and lived here all her life. Elizabeth loved sewing and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Frank and Henry Hodge.
She is survived by her husband Olly Bass of Athens; son and daughter?in-law Larry and Wanda Bass of Athens; daughter Peggy Pearson and husband Bruce Moore of San Diego, CA; one brother, Albert Hodge of Graceful, FL; three grandchildren: Gary Bass, David Bass and wife Laural, Joy Rainwater and husband Michael; three great grandchildren; Michaela, Noah, and Joshua Bass.
Pallbearers will be Bill Valentine, Joe Graham, Lynn Wymore, Gary Bass, David Bass, and Michael Rainwater.
