A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Dennis Ayers officiating. A native of Kenly, N.C., Mr. Bass was a son of the late Redden Bass and Irene Bass. He was retired from the state of Kentucky Transportation Department. He was a member of Grace Covenant Church of God in York. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ball Bass; two daughters, Ann Compton and Gail Moore, both of York; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his special friends, Jimmy Snipes of York. The family will receive friends at home. Memorial may be made to Grace Covenant Church of God, 2201 Chester Highway, York, SC 29745. Bratton Funeral Home is in charge.
