Pioneer Lady Passes Away
Mrs. T.J. Bass, aged 78 years, passed away at the family home on North Pinkerton street at 7:00 o?clock Monday evening, February 18th. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at the Methodist church at 10 o?clock, Rev. I.M. Lamber and Rev. O.W. Hooper officiating. Interment will be in the city cemetery.
Mrs. Bass had lived most of her life in Athens and Henderson county and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Christian church and for many years was active in the work of the church.
Surviving Mrs. Bass are her husband and the following children: E.M. Bass of Teague; A.F. Bass of Monroe Louisiana; Ralph Bass, Jacksonville; Tom Joe Bass Jr., Athens; Mrs. P.J. Musgrove and Mrs. Eugene Deupree of Jacksonville; Mrs. E.N. Reitch of Palestine; Miss Ruth Bass of Palestine and Mrs. W.E. Bandy, Athens. These and a rage number of grandchildren are present in the city, having been called to attend their loved on in her final illness.
Nine grandsons are named as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: V.I. Stirman, J.R. Reirson, H.T. Gillam, Judge A.B. Coker, Don Dickerson, W.M. Fauntt, Geo. R. Davis, W.C. Gauntt, J.T. LaRue, J.R. Scarborough, J.L. Warren, S.B. Loper, J.C. Davis, B.C. Hall, Jno. W. Wood, G.L. Smith, Granville Lawton, Dave M. Dickerson, J.S. Smith, W.D. Justice, John W. Ballow, W.R. Bishop and Judge Ben F. Dent.
