John Howard Bass
GEORGETOWN ? John Howard Bass, 72, died Monday.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the Gabriel Funeral Home in Georgetown. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown.
Mr. Bass was born in Lubbock and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Corinne Thompson on Oct. 18, 1946. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950 with a degree in Petroleum Geology and obtained his Master's degree in Geology in 1951. He worked for The Texas Company (Texaco) as a Well Site Geologist and retired in 1981 as manager of exploration for Texaco. He then joined Petroleum Corporation of Texas and, several years, later founded his own oil and gas exploration company, Bass Energy, Inc. He moved to Georgetown in 1999.
Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; one son, James "Jim" Howard Bass of Georgetown; one daughter, Linda Bass Cauffman of Marble Falls; his mother, Minola Pearl Day; two sisters; two brothers; and one grandchild.
