State University in Raleigh, NC. and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a stateside courier. After discharge, he attended UNC Adams School of Dentistry graduating in 1967. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity building houses and with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of High Point Country Club and The String and Splinter Club for many years.
Bob loved fly fishing, a skill he acquired at a young age, and spent countless hours trying to catch "Moby Dick." Reading was a constant source of education and relaxation. He was avid lover of classical music. Wood carving was a life-long passion, with birds being his specialty. He enjoyed playing golf with friends until the onset of Parkinsons limited his physical abilities. In his later years, gardening became a highlight.
