In Memory of Rev. Dewey Wayne Bass
1940 ? 2021
Rev. Dewey Wayne Bass, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on August 27, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family at the age of 81. He was born on March 13, 1940 in Pasadena, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey George Bass and Nora Corta Bass; his brother, Ronald Bass; his sister, Gloria Bass Jenkins; and his beloved former wife, Loyce Kendrick Bass (the mother of his children).
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Frances W. Bass; his children, Ronald Bass (Christy), Lori Bass Legg (Larry), and John Bass; his stepchildren, Iris Williams and William Williams; his grandchildren, Christopher Bass (Courtney), Brandi Bass Garcia (Christopher), Nathan Legg, Ethan Legg, Megan Bass Beaty, Madison Bass, Elisha Bass, Frank Rancatore IV, Gabrielle Smith (Nicholas), Alexandra Rancatore, and Wesley Williams; and his brother, Tommy Bass (Sherry). He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and a host of other beloved family members.
Rev. Dewey Bass was a U.P.C.I. minister and served as a pastor for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Iron Workers Union. Dewey Bass was a friend and advisor to many and one who never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile and loving heart. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the guitar, reading, and spending time with his family and friends. Rev. Dewey will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Church of Slidell. A funeral service with military honors will begin at noon. Due to the Louisiana COVID-19 mandate, masks are required to be worn by all attendees during the visitation and funeral services. Dewey will be laid to rest at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the First Pentecostal Church of Slidell are preferred.
