  Notes	Greensboro Daily News, North Carolina, Sunday 20 August 1950 Farmer Is Killed in Auto Mishap DANVILLE, Va., Aug. 19.-Pittsylvania County?s gory highway trail was extended today as the dead body of Charlie Bass, 46, Halifax County farmer, was drawn from the debris of his car after it had struck the abutment of Cane Creek bridge on Route 58 at 4 a.m. Bass was trailing a truck in which he was bringing farm produce to the Danville market. When he was missed the truck driver went back and found the wrecked car. The victim?s skull was crushed and his neck broken. His was the 21st county highway death this year, the third fatality within a week.
