Worth E. Bass
MOUNT AIRY, NC (Black Water Community) ~ Mr. Worth E. Bass, 77, of Atkins Lane, Mount Airy, husband of Gladys Gravely Bass, passed away Monday, March 13, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Bass was born in Surry County on Dec. 23, 1922, son of the late Emory and Bessie Johnson Bass. Mr. Bass was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was retired from United Plastics Corp. and a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Gravely Bass of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Trudy and the Rev. Frank Huffman of Ararat; a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Dale and Brenda Bass of Mount Airy; two grandsons, and a spouse, Matthew David and Cara Hiatt and Johnathan Bass all of Mount Airy; great-granddaughter, Caitlin Hiatt of Mount Airy; three sisters and brothers-inlaw, Margie and Ottis Chilton of Westfield and Louise and Chet McCall and Sylvia and Clarence Martin, all of Winston-Salem; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Clorene Bass of Mount Airy, Charlie and Polly Bass of Winston-Salem and Garld and Opal Bass of Clayton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bass was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Bass. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at Little Mountain Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Bill Watson, the Rev. Dale Bass and the Rev. 23 Dec 2022 Descendants of Thomas Oakes Bass Page 4 Frank Huffman with burial in Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by V.F.W. Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie instate 30 minutes before the funeral service.
