Visitation was 10 a.m. today until services at 11 at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb. committal services were in Johnson Grove Church of Christ Cemetery. Mrs. Bass was born Sept. 29, 1914, in Lincoln County, to Prentiss S. and Bertha Snyder Laird. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, of 69 years, Hilton Bass, who died in 2002; and two brothers, Earl and Frank Laird. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Clem Steele, and Joyce and Jimmy Johnston, all of Smithdale; a son and daughter-in-law, Au-brey H. and Dean Bass of Bogue Chitto; grandchildren, Dewayne Bass, Gary Bass, Greg Bass, Justin Bass, Wanda Hart, David Steele, Dennis Steele, Jeri Welch and Janet Watson; 16 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
