Well-Known Virginia Is Dead at Riverview
Charles Meggs Bass, prominent figure in State political, social, religious and agricultural circles, who was a member of the State Board of Agriculture upon appointment by former Governor Trinkle, died yesterday at his home, Riverview Farm, near Farmville, in Prince Edward County.
He was the son of the late Dr. Robert A. and Pattie Bruce Bass, and is survived by his wife, Betty Bruce Bass; four daughters, Mrs. James T. Bruce, of Rice, Va.; Mrs. E. Jerome Raiford, of Ivor, Va.; Misses Martha and Blanche Bass; thre sons, William B., of Rice; P.A., of Staunton, and Carroll M. Bass, of this city; two brothers, S.B. and J.T. Bass, and one sister, Miss Mattie Bass, all of Richmond.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Charles Melville Bass
FARMVILLE, VA., Nov. 26-Charles Melville Bass, 68, died at his home near Rice, Va., yesterday afternoon. He had engaged in farming and dairying for the past several years and at one time was a member of the State Board of Agriculture. Some years ago he conducted the Planters Warehouse, of this city. He leaves a widow and the following children: Aomon Bass, instructor at the Deaf and Blind School, Staunton; Mrs. James T. Bruce, of Prince Edward County; Mrs. Irma Raiford, Ivor; Misses Martha and Blanche Bass, and Carroll Bass, Richmond, and Willie Bass, of Rice. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters; Jim and Bruce Bass, Richmond; B.G. Bass, Rice; Miss Mattie Bass, Richmond, and Mrs. Eva Simpson, Norfolk. Deceased was a member of the Sandy River Baptist Church and was also a deacon in that church for many years. The funeral took place form the home this afternoon and interment was made in the Rice Cemetery.
