  Notes	The Weekly Democrat Gazette, McKinney, Texas, 11 Mar 1915 Richard S. Bass Died Near Anna Thursday morning at 2:30 a.m. R.S. Bass, departed this life at his home about two miles south of Anna. The demise came unexpectedly. Mr. Bass? health had been bad for several months, but his condition was thought to be not critical. The remains were shipped to McKinney Friday morning over the interurban, and re-shipped to Princeton Friday afternoon over the Katy. Service were held in the Primitive Baptist Church there of which the deceased was a member. Burial followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of J.C. Parker of the Massie undertaking establishment. Richard Siren Bass was a native of Wilson County, Tenn., where he was born August 4, 1861. He was aged, 53 years and 7 months old at the time of his death. He came to Texas in 1881, in the month of January and settled in the Bloomdale community northwest of McKinney. Later he moved into what is now the While?s Grove community, and later still in the Milligan community. At the latter place he resided until about four years ago., when he moved to the home where he lived at the time of his death. He was married Jan. 17, 1883, to Mrs. M.E. Phillips, while living in the Bloomdale community. To this union eight children were born, four of whom survived as follows: Ben Bass of Wilson Chapel; Mrs. Jim Odle, of this city; Roby Bass, of Weston; Mrs. T. H. Herriage, Emory Rains County; Arville Bass, at home. Two brohters, H.B. Bass of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and W.P. Bass of near Paris, Texas, and still living; one sister, Mrs. John Efird of Corpusco, Texas, survives; three half brothers, J.L. Bass of the Bishop community, J.S. Bass of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and S.D. Bass of Greenville, likewise survive; and two half-sisters, Mrs. J.T. Watson of Dallas and Mrs. Wallace Stiff of Temple, Texas, also survive. His father died in the Milligan community about six years ago, while the mother died in Tennessee. He had been a member of the Primitive Baptist Church about forty years, and constantly lived a consistent Christian life. He was a member of the Collin County Home Relief Association of this city. A large circle of good friends tenderly sympathize with the bereaved relatives.
