  Notes	News and Observer, Raleigh, North Carolina, Wednesday, June 8, 1955 Nero E. Bass RED OAK ? Nero Elgin Bass, Nash County farmer and landowner, died in a Rocky Mount hospital Tuesday morning. He was 59. He was a native of Nash County, the son of the late Charlie W. and Florence Collie Bass. He was a veteran of World War one and a deacon in Red Oak Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 from the Red Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Garrett, pastor, in charge, assisted by Dr. J.W. Kinchloe of Rocky Mount. Burial will follow in the Red Oak Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, the former Valeria Jones of the home; two sons, Tom and Ned Bass, both of Red Oak; eight brothers, Clifton of Aventon, Edwin, Ralph and Roger of Nashville, Broddie and Howell of Spring Hope; C.W. of Jackson and Russell of Rocky Mount; a sister, Mrs. C.C. Harper, RFD, Rocky Mount; a grandson and a grand-daughter.
