  Notes	News and Observer, Raleigh, North Carolina, Thursday, March 27, 1952 William B. Bass ELM CITY ? William Burtis Bass died unexpectedly at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at his home, Route 2, Elm City. He had been in poor health for several months. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at People?s Chapel Church with the Rev. J.B. Ferrell, Free Will Baptist minister in charge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He was born August 25, 1908, son of the late Frank Bass and Cora Boone Bass and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Bass; one daughter, Janetgte Bass of the home; three sons, William Wattes, Melton and Bobby Ray Bass, all of the home; his mother, also of the home; one brother, H.C. Bass of Route 2, Elm City; two sisters, Mrs. John Thomas, Portsmouth, Va., Mrs. James Parker, Route 2, Elm City. He was a farmer of the community and a member of People?s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
