Bass Funeral for Gaines Andrew Bass, 85, of Republic who died Monday in a local hospital following a long illness will be at 2 p.m. today at Brown-Service Chapel. Burial will be in Bold Springs Cemetery in Shelby County. A native of Shelby County, Mr. Bass was retired postmaster at Republic. He had lived 37 years in Republic where he operated a grocery and the post-office. Bass was a member of Sixth Avenue Presbyterian Church and had belonged to the Oddfellows. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Wilma D. Bass; two sons, Gorman W. Bass, Chalmette, La.; Gaines M. Bass, Hialeah, Fla.; and one daughter, Mrs. Bennett Brake, Republic.
