  Notes	The Statesville Sentinel, Statesville, North Carolina Thursday, July 1, 1915 Mr. Bass Dead Mr. A.J. Bass, a highly respected farmer of the Amity community, died Sunday evening at 8 o?clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Quince Murdock, at Cleveland after a short illness. Mr. Bass accompanied by Mr. Lee Moose, left his home near Amity Friday morning, apparently in good health, for a fishing trip to zBaker?s Pond near Cleveland. Early Friday morning Mr. Bass became desperately ill, and Mr. Moose at once summoned medical aid. Th sick man was removed to his daughter?s home in Cleveland, where he remained until his death Sunday evening. A form of paralysis or a congestive chill was the cause of the death. Mr. Bass was 58 years old. Surviving the deceased besides a wife, are eight children, four daughters, Miss Vernie Bass who lives at the home of her parents, Mrs. Quince Murdock of Cleveland, Mrs. Ivey Everhart of Winston, and Mrs. Gray Ayers of Amity, and four sons, Messrs. Thomas, C.F., Arthur and Will Bass, all of whom live near Amity. Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at 2 o?clock from the family residence by Rev. Mr. Wilcox and burial took place at Shady Grove cemetery.
