Mrs. Tabitha Vickers
Mrs. Tabitha Vickers was born in Gibson county, Indiana, December 6, 1829 and died in Custer county, June 15, 1913, aged 84 years 6 months and 9 days.
She was married to Daniel Holcomb in 1846. To this union were born seven children of which four died in infancy.
In 1861 she was married to Robert Skelton. Four children were born to this union all died in infancy but one. She leaves two brothers and one sister to mourn her loss: J.W. Skelton of Los Angeles, California; W.A. Skelton of Milburn and Lucinda Holcomb of Seattle, Washington.
In 1871 she was married to Granderson Vickers. She was united in with the Baptist church when quite young and lived in that faith until her death. In 1882 they moved to Nebraska, and shortly afterward they organized a church of the same faith and order. The members most all moved away and then in 1891 she united with the missionary Baptist church. She was a charter member of both organizations. She was always a cheerful giver to all good causes. She leaves one stepdaughter, 18 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
