Elizabeth A. (Bailey) Wagner Bassett
ANGOLA - Elizabeth "Betsy" A. (Bailey) Wagner Bassett, 70, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Northern Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Angola, Indiana, where she received wonderful care during her time spent there.
Betsy was born on Sept. 20, 1953, in Angola, Indiana, to Al Bailey and Rosemary (Able) Bailey Ross.
She graduated from Angola High School and received her Bachelor of Business degree from Indiana University.
Betsy was a paralegal for several major corporations, often traveling around the world for business.
She married Larry Bassett on Nov. 29, 2014.
Betsy was a philanthropist and supported and loved her community. She was a member of Psi Iota Xi.
Betsy loved her dogs. Among her favorite breeds were Leonberger and Bouvier des Flandres. Most of all she loved spending time with Larry and her family. She enjoyed taking rides on the pontoon with family and her two dogs, going to the Sea Plane Fly In's at Pokagon State Park and going to Balloons Aloft in Angola, where she had been a member on a Hot Air Balloon crew to name a few.
Surviving are her husband, Larry Bassett, of Angola, Indiana; son, Dan Wagner, of Iowa; stepdaughters, Brooke (Nathan) Phenicie, of Glenview, Illinois, and Brittany (Tyler) Hartman, of Angola, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; and her brother, Wes (Patti) Bailey, of Rochester, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Steve Wagner; daughter, Jamie Chapoteau; stepson, Brice Bassett; and sister, Kay Rosselot.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana.
Officiating will be John Coney, Minister.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be made to the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County or to Northern Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Angola, Indiana.
