      Jon Alan Bass

      Age 53, a native of Orange, Texas and resident of Springfield, Jon passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009 due to an automobile accident. He was the owner of Mainstreet Autoplex in Ponchatoula. Jon will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and friend as well as an excellent cook. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Wall Bass; two sons, Jon Bass II and wife Laura, Mark Bass of Gonzales and wife Wendi; mother, M. Virginia Bass; step-daughter, April McIntyre and husband Jay; step-son, Jeremy Kluka and wife Melanie; five precious grandchildren, Jessica Hatcher, Evan Bass, Gabe Kluka, Jennings Kluka and Annelise McIntyre. Jon is also survived by his thirteen siblings, Frances Moody, Tom A. Bass, Janet Maumus, Barbara V. AnVrancken, Belinda Schoeffler, Mary Burleigh, Veronica Lemoine, Judith Niland, Desiree Pebles, Kip Bass, Sabrina Lonadier, Stasi Ogier and Tyrone Bass along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family member and friends. Preceding Jon in death were his father, James E. Bass and brother, James E. Bass, Jr. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 10 a.m., celebrated by Very Rev. Randy M. Cuevas, S.T.L., V.F. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Tuesday, July 28 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. The visitation will resume at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ochsner Clinic Foundation, Greg Smith Transplant Fund.       A salesman and a resident of New Roads, he died Friday, March 30, 2001, at L.V. Stabler Hospital, Greenville, Ala. He was 48 and a native of Ponchatoula. Visiting at Niland?s Funeral Home, New Roads, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Monday. Religious services at St. Mary?s Catholic Churhc, New Roads, at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Michael Schatzle. Interment in church Cemetery. Survived by his mother, Virginia M. Bass, New Roads; a stepdaughter, Courtney Vernon, Morgan City; two sons, James ?Skeet?       Jon Bass

      Jon Alan Bass II passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the age of 42. He was a native of Gonzales, Louisiana, and was a resident of Port Vincent at the time of his death. He was born to Marian Hope Cambre Bass and Jon Alan Bass on August 4, 1980 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife, Desiree, mother and stepfather, Hope Cambre and John F.D. Peterson; brother, Mark R. Bass, wife Wendi; nephews Evan and Owen; grandmother, Frances Richard Cambre; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jon Alan Bass, Sr.; maternal grandfather, David Harold Cambre; paternal grandparents, James Enoch Bass and Virginia McNichol Bass; great-grandparents, C. V. and Maude Richard, Oscar and Elma Cambre, Raymond and Ena McNichol, and Enoch and Maggie Bass. Jon played baseball for Catholic High School and graduated in 1998. He continued his education at Southeastern University in Hammond, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in business. After graduation, Jon began his professional career as an IT specialist. Jon proudly served in the Louisiana Army National Guard, 205' Engineering Battalion. He was a combat medic and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2004 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom where he was attached to various operational units. Jon's unit returned to Louisiana after completing the tour and he received an honorable discharge that same year. Jon loved his family, fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting with family and friends, and especially rabbit hunting in the company of his grandfather, David Cambre, Sr. He was also a skilled woodworker, craftsman, and enjoyed watching the LSU Tigers play. A visitation for Jon will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737. Visitation will continue on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 15710 LA Hwy. 16, French Settlement, LA 70733. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am officiated by Father Mathew Dunn and Deacon Jimmy Little. Pallbearers include Derek Patterson, Ryan Diez, Landon Millet, Luke Millet, Trey Cambre, Kip Bass, and Kyle Patterson. Jon will be laid to rest at St. Williams Cemetery in Port Vincent.
