Bass, 81, retired farmer of south Robeson County, died late Thursday afternoon at his home after several years of failing health. Graveside services will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Bass family cemetery with the Rev. Horace L. Jackson officiating. Survivors are four sons, Grover Bass, Wilmer Bass, and Homer Bass, all of Fairmont, and Frank Bass of Wilmington; five daughters, Mrs. Vivian B. Arnette, Mrs. Bertha Strickland, and Mrs. Carl Rowell, all of Fairmont, Mrs. Ray Cook of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Leslie Byrd of Wilmington; two brothers, Jim and Floyd Bass, both of Fairmont; and one sisters, Mrs. Naomi Byrd of Fairmont; and 17 grandchildren.
