Leslie Wayne ?Sam? Bass
Leslie Wayne "Sam" Bass, 72, a retired general manager for LuVel Dairy, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. Visitation at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko, Miss., was on Tuesday, April 21, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. Burial in the Richardson family cemetery in Jena. The Rev. Barry Corbett will officiate the services in Kosciusko and the Rev. Jerry Richardson and the Rev. Barry Corbett will officiate the service in Jena. He was a past president of Mid State Management Association, a member of the LSU Alumni Association and the School of Dairy Science. He was a past participant in the Dixie Dairy Association. He retired as general manager of LuVel Dairy in 2000. He was a management consultant for Mississippi State Dairy Science Department. He served for two years in the U.S. Army in Korea. Sam was an avid deer hunter, loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching sports. Mr. Bass was a member of First Baptist Church in Kosciusko. Survivors include his wife, Shirley C. Bass, of Kosciusko; daughters, Lynnette Williams and husband Marty, of Madison, Miss., Leslie S. Bass, of Miami, and Lisa Hodges and husband Jeff, of Madison; grandchildren, Kimberly and Christopher Williams and Scarlett and Sydney Hodges; and sisters, Bobbye Patton, of Bridgeport, Texas, and Betty S. Bass, of Little Rock, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leslie and Mary Violet Richardson Bass. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church Building Fund, the Richardson family cemetery in Jena or the Center for Great Apes, P.O. Box 488, Wauchula, FL 33873.
