Groton - Connie Stalker of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Groton, Conn. went home to be with her Lord Dec. 21, 2018, after a long courageous battle with breast cancer..
She was born April 11, 1962 in Eastport, Maine to George and Carolyn Bassett.
Connie was diagnosed with breast cancer Sept. 4, 2016. She fought it with all she had until the battle just became too much. She had no strength left to fight. She was one strong woman.
Connie was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and in Oct. went to see them play.What a time that was.She loved playing softball when she was young and in later years enjoyed watching her children play sports. Nothing was more important to Connie than her family.She was always there for everyone. She is going to be missed terribly.
Connie is survived by her children; Kevin (Lynn) Clark, Carolyn (JP) Vasquez and Brittany Stalker. Mother Carolyn and step father Bob Land. Father George Bassett. Brothers; George Bassett III, Richard (Dawn) Bassett, Jamie (Terri) Bassett, Step-sister Michelle (Marc) Friedman and step brother Jeff Land. Grandchildren; Kevin Jr. Nicky, Madison, Trevor, Molly, Kara, Kaiden, Kate, Kaly and Kylee.
There will be a memorial service at Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Jan. 5 followed by a reception.
