Malcolm Bassett, son of Mrs. Richard Marini, was appointed Chief Radar Technician in the U.S Coast Guard on 16 Feb 1969. He entered the Coast Guard in August, 1958 and received his high school diploma while serving in the Coast Guard. He will nw be stationed at Cape May, N.J. for three years as an instructor. He is married to the former Janet McCullum of Portland and has one son. His maternal grandmother is Mrs. Lavina Robinson and his paternal grandmother is Mrs. Carrie bassett, both of Eastport.
Mrs. Richard Marini is spending the winter months with her son and family in New London, Conn.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Malcolm O. Bassett, USCG CWO #4 Ret., 77, formerly of Eastport, Maine, died peacefully on Nov. 20, 2017, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 31 years, Janet McCullum Bassett; a brother, Richard Bassett; and parents, George and Catherine Bassett. Malcolm is survived by his son, Bill Bassett; a daughter, Jana Bassett-Fulkerson; a sister, Carol Webster, and her husband Tom; a brother, George Bassett II; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at noon at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
