  Notes	Bangor Daily News, April 29, 1997 George Franklin Bassett Eastport and Pembroke George F. Bassett, 78, died April 26, 1997, at his residence in Pembroke. He was born in Eastport, Oct. 8, 1918, the son of William and Carrie (O’Dell) Bassett. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II, and ws a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of the V.F.W. He loved going to his camp to hunt. He is survived by two sons, Malcolm O. Bassett of St. Petersburg, Fla., and George F. Bassett Jr. of Pawcatuck, Conn.; daughter, Carol Webster of Calais; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Bassett. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Flagg Funeral Home, Eastport.
