Legacy Remembers, 15 June 2018
Peggy Bass Young
Peggy Bass Young, 85 of Rock Hill quietly slipped into eternity on the morning of June 13, 2018.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Born in Rocky Mount, NC in 1933 to Jerry Rome Bass and Dellar Ardelia Ellis, she was the youngest of 7 children, and the last of her siblings to pass away.
She was known for her sweet disposition, kindly manner, great generosity, strong work ethic, and strength in trials. She had a firm faith in her Savior and served Him and her fellows to the end.
She had lived in North Carolina, South Carolina, California, and Utah spending the majority of her life in South Carolina in the Columbia area. She married Richard Williamson Young in 1972.
She is survived by her son George Evans Jr. and her daughters Hilda Grant, Sheela Summerhays, and Laura Machado; her other son Jerry Evans preceded her in death in 2002; and two step daughters Deborah McHone and LaSandra Anthony. She also has 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Her viewing will be at the Greene Funeral Home, 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill, SC on Friday, June 15 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the LDS Chapel on 1130 East Alexander Love Highway in York, SC Saturday, June 16 at 10:30 am. There will also be a memorial service at the Greenlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum Chapel in Columbia, SC at 3:00 pm.
