Betty Herbst (1930 ? 2018) (Picture included)
Betty Mae (Bass) Herbst, 88, life resident of Brush, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan. She was born February 9, 1930 in Brush to Bryan and Edna (Holt) Bass. Betty married the love of her life, Robert Herbst, on August 20, 1949 in Fort Morgan. Together they raised a family which was their one true joy from their daughters to their grandchildren to their great grandchildren. Betty worked for the J.C. Penney Company for eight years. She ran for a seat in Ward 1 of the Brush City Council in 1977. She took office in 1978 and served for 24 years. Betty's hobbies included crocheting, making quilts, tending to her gardens, cooking, hunting, and sports. She and Bob especially enjoyed watching their grandchildren play football, baseball, and softball. Survivors include her four daughters, Arlene Herbst (Andrew Sandoval), Esther (Dwight) Andersen, Barbara (Roger) Holter, and Kimberly (Chuck) Harbert, all of Brush; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and one sister, Cathy Anthony of Norcatur, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Herbst; her parents, Bryan and Edna Bass; her sister, Evelyn Turnbull; and her brother, William Bass. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 9, at 11:00 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Interment will follow at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel on Monday from 4 - 6 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Betty Herbst Memorial Fund c/o the Heer Mortuary.
