Raymond D. Bass
BASS, RAYMOND D., SR., 76, of 302 Ram Island Road and Deerfield Beach, FL, died Friday at his Florida residence. He was the husband of the late Eileen C. (Duffy) Bass.
Born in Norfolk, VA, he was a son of the late John W. and Mamie (Harton) Bass.
A 23 year veteran of the US Navy, primarily as a deep sea diver, he served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at the logistics supply depot for the United States Antarctic Research Program, National Science Foundation, at Davisville. He later worked for General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division, Quonset Point, as a crane operator. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Assn. Branch 42, King Solomon's Lodge No. 11, F&M, and the Quonset-Davisville Navy Yacht Club.
Mr. Bass leaves his children, Dale E. Bass of Wilbraham, MA, Raymond D. Bass, Jr. of Kennesaw, GA and Lee Ann Cournoyer of North Kingstown; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
His Funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard Church, 415 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
