Jerry H. Bass Jr.
Jerry Herbert Bass Jr., aged 26, of 1321 Kavanaugh Boulevard, son of Mrs. Harvey D. Mixon Jr. and the late Jerry Hebert Bass Sr., died Saturday at Fort Smith. He had been ill with hepatitis for five months. He was a 1962 graduate of Hall High School where he was president of the senior class and a two-year starter for the Warriors football team, playing end and place-kicker. In 1961, he caught a touchdown pass and then kicked the extra point that beat the Pine Bluff Zebras 7 to 6. The same year, he kicked a 32-yard field goal in the final seconds of a game to beat the Benton Panthers 9 to 7. He attended Harvard University and the University of Arkansas. Other survivors are a sister Mrs. Jeff Brunnemeye of Fort Smith; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. George Hinnant of Fort Smith and his stepfather, Harvey D. Mixon Jr of Little Rock. Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John?s Episcopal church at Fort Smith. Burial was a Forest Park Cemetery at Fort Smity by Edwards Funeral Home.
