Funeral arrangements will be announced by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Mr. Bass was born in Darlington County, a son of the late John and Dicey Beasley Bass. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Pine Hollow Union Faith Church. Surviving are: His widow, Mrs. Annice Freeman Bass; two sons, William M. Bass Jr. of Summerville and Johnny Bass of Hartsville; six daughters, Mrs. Edward Griggs and Mrs. Alton Sanders of Columbia, Mrs. James R. Johnson of Hartsville, Mrs. Arthur Thompson of Springfield, Tenn., Mrs. James Edward Glenn of Pensacola, Fla., and Mrs. Joe Yates of Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Rhodes of Darlington and Mrs. Emma Steen of Syracuse, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
