  Notes	Mr. John Bass Who had been in ill health for some time died at his home about 7 miles from this city on last Friday, May the 17th. The deceased was a Confederate veteran who served his country during the war between the States, since which time he has been a good and useful citizen, having the respect and esteem of all who knew him. He had lived to a good old age, and now that the warfare of life is ended, we hope in the words of that Christian soldier Stonewall Jackson, he too has ?crossed over the river, and now rests under the shade.? He leaves a large family, together with many friends and relatives to mounr his death. His funeral services were conducted by Revs. McKinnon and Sloan on Saturday, and his remains laid to rest in Sharon Cemetery.
