Edward Bass Sr., age 98, of Wisconsin Drive, Elkhorn, died on Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at the Williams Bay Care Center. He was born on Jan. 22, 1906, in Jefferson County, the son of Richard and Inez Bass. Edward married Alma Waltman, and she preceded him in death in 1958. He then married Alma Leeder-Seales, and she preceded him in death in 1993. Ed was a longtime area farmer; and after retiring from farming, he was employed at Lake Lawn Lodge, in Delavan. Edward is survived by 2 daughters, Vivian (Kenneth) Butke, of Janesville, and Shirley (Robert) Riese, of Elkhorn; a son, Ed (Marion) Bass Jr., of Elkhorn; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Schmidt, of Palmyra. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Herbert and Raymond; and a sister, Esther Kruse. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at the BELLS FUNERAL HOME, 103 E. Rockwell St., Elkhorn, with Rev. Joyce Rich officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
