Former Sapulpa Resident is Dead
Claire Bassett Abshire Dies After Year’s Illness at Home in Tulsa
Word was received today of the death of Claire Bassett Abshire, Tulsa, wife of F.W. Abshire.
Formerly of Sapulpa, Mrs. Abshire has not lived here in the past 15 years. She died after a year’s illness. She was 37 years old. Mrs. Abshire is the daughter of Mrs. Mable Bassett, state commissioner of charities and corrections. Besides her husband and mother she is survived by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth, 12, and two brothers.
She was found dead in her bed at 2:45 am. Earlier this fall, Mrs. Abshire had undergone an operation and had been in poor health since.
For the last three weeks Mrs. Bassett has been at her daughter’s bedside almost constantly.
Funeral services will be held at the Stanley-McCune Chapel, Tulsa, at 2 o’clock tomorrow. Burial will be made at the Rosehill Cemetery of that city.
