Remembered the Poor, The Last Will of Mrs. E.J. Bassett Filed Today
The late Mrs. Elizabeth J. Bassett, who died recently at the home of O.A. Hale, and how left three daughters, Mrs. Mary P. Hale, Mrs. Eva K. Field and Mrs. Ella Goodsell, the latter of Portland, Oregon, made her will on May 3, 1893, the instrument being witnessed by S.F. Leib and C.M. Lotigen. It was filed for probate today by O.A. Hale and David Goodsell, who are named as executors.
The will provides that $500 be paid to the trustees of the First M.E. Church of this city. The money is to be placed at interest, the latter to be used for the poor of the church. One hundred dollars is to be paid to Mr. J.C. Potter, of San Mateo, a friend of the deceased.
The rest of the estate is to be taken charge of by O.A. Hale and David Goodsell, who are to pay to Mrs. Eva K. Field, during the latter's life, $25 a month, at the latter's death, as soon as the youngest grandchild of the deceased is of age, the property is to be divided share and share alike. The heirs are the children named.
It is provided that if either of the trustees named shall die, C.H. Field shall take his place.
The estimated value of the estate is $12,000.
