      William T. Bassett Dies Suddenly
      Member of Firm of Howe & Bassett Was Prominent Business Man

      William T. Bassett, of the firm of Howe & Bassett, long prominent in the business life of the city, died suddenly at his home, 55 Prince street, last evening. Although ill for some time, Mr. Bassett had shown marked improvement of late, expecting to be at his desk in a few days, and his death will come as a shock to his friends in Rochester.
      Mr. Bassett was born in Rochester, July 27, 1857. In 1897, Mr. Bassett was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Hanna, daughter of Edward and Ann Hanna, early settlers in Rochester. Six children, the fruit of this union, are surviving. They are Edward H., William T., Ann C., Eleanor M., Margaret and Harriet. He leaves also a sister, Mrs. Harriet I. Beals.
      Mr. Bassett was one of the best known men in Rochester, his gift of making friends being exceptional. He was genial, whole-hearted and generous to a fault, while his read with always make him the center of any gathering of men. His friends were not confined to any one walk of life, for he literally spread sunshine wherever he went. Many will mourn the smiling, happy hearted man whose presence always cheered.
      Mr. Bassett was a member of many organizations, prominent among them being the Knights of Columbus, the Alhambra, the Elks, and the Chamber of Commerce.

      William T. Bassett Dies
      Prominent in Plumbing Business and Various Organizations

      William T. Bassett, of the plumbing firm of Howe & Bassett, died
      suddenly Thursday evening at his home, No. 55 Prince street. He was the
      brother-in-law of Archbishop Edward J. Hanna, of San Francisco, formerly of
      this city, having married Margaret Hanna, daughter of Edward and Anna Hanna,
      who were early settlers in Rochester, in 1807. He leaves, besides his wife,
      six children, Edward H., William T., Anne C., Eleanor M., Margaret and Harriet
      Bassett, and a sister, Mrs. Harriet L. Beals, all of Rocheste
      Mr. Bassett was a member of the Rochester Council, Knights of
      Columbus; Muse Caravan, Order of the Alhambra; Union Club, Rochester Lodge,
      B.P.O. Elks; the Chamber of Commerce and Corpus Christi Church.

      W.T. Bassett leaves $97,000

      The will of William T. Bassett, late treasurer of the Howe & Bassett
      Company, was admitted to probate yesterday by Surrogate Brown. Mr. Bassett
      died on January 25th, leaving an estate valued at $97,000, of which $90,000 is
      in personal property. The entire estate goes to his widow, Margaret H.
      Bassett, of No. 55 Prince street.
