Mr. J.W.R. Bass Dead
Well Known and Esteemed Resident of Warsaw Passes Away
Many Wilmington friends were shocked and saddened yesterday to learn of the death of Mr. J. W. R. Bass, one of the best known and most highly esteemed residents of Warsaw, N.C., who passed away yesterday morning at 10:30 o?clock after a period of ill health from a complication of diseases for a year or more. Mr. Bass was well known in Wilmington and news of his death will come to many with extreme regret and with sincere sympathy for loved ones who are so deeply bowed down in sorrow.
Mr. Bass was born August 19th, 1849, and was, therefore, 65 years old. He had lived at Warsaw for a long number of years and had been postmaster there under the Cleveland administration. In later life he had represented the Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Co., last as special agent. A member of the Baptist church and a citizen who ever stood for the right and for the best interests of his community, his death will be a great loss to Duplin county.
Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, two sons, Mrs. H.M. Bass, of New York, and Dr. C.D. Bass, of Charlotte, and four daughters, Mrs. J.R. Barden, of Warsaw; Mr. G.T. Deans, of Goldsboro; Mrs. E.P. Schulken, of Wilmington, and Mrs. W.H. Atkinson, of Brunswick, Ga.
Wilmington relatives left last night for Warsaw to attend the funeral, definite arrangements for which had not been made yesterday.
