Joyce Bassett Strebel
LAYTON - Joyce Bassett Strebel passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005, due to
complications from cancer and a stroke.
She was born May 16, 1932 in Logan, Utah to Royal Clarence Jr. and Afton
Luella Peterson Bassett.
She grew up in Wellsville, graduating from So. Cache High School in 195
Joyce was the oldest of seven children.
On March 14, 1952, she married Robert Paul Strebel in Ogden, Utah and their
marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, March 2, 1956. They
made their home in Sunset for 32 years and Layton for 12 years. Together they
had four children.
The love Joyce had for her family was evident in everything she did. Her
gentle and caring compassionate way encompassed everyone, her husband,
parents, brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren; all relatives were
loved by Joyce. Because of her strong desire to keep her family connected, she
spent many selfless hours compiling family photos, histories, keepsakes, and
genealogy. This work is her contribution to her family for generatio
come.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Bob, two sons, Dr. Robert Paul (Ann) Strebel
Jr., David Royal (Pennie) Strebel, one daughter, Deborah Joyce (Mike) Strebel
Nelson, four brothers, Bill Bassett, Warren Bassett, James (DeeAnn) Bassett,
Jarvis (Karen) Bassett, two sisters, B. Sharon Bassett, Shonie (Bob) Bassett
Harris, seven grandchildren, Sacha (Greg) Strebel Despain, Niki Strebel,
Robert Paul (Brittany) Strebel III, Sharlee Strebel, Natalie Strebel, Austin
Strebel, Shannon Brichele Joy Nelson, one great-grandchild, Cache Despain, and
her second great-grandchild to be born January 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Afton and Royal Bassett, infa
sister, Della Mae Bassett, son, Jeffrey Strebel and one grandchild, Michael
Stewart Nelson Jr.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 1 p.m. at
Wellsville City Cemetery. Friends and family may call Thursday from 11:00 to
12:00 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street, Logan, Utah.
Funeral directors, Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road,
Layton, Utah. The family wishes to express thanks to all those who attended to
Joyce during this time.
