Marne N. Bass
KERRVILLE - Marne N. Bass, 90, passed away on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at a Kerrville care center.
He was born on Dec. 27, 1918, in San Francisco, Calif., to Donald and Elizabeth Bass.
Marne served in the U.S. Army from 1940 until 1945 during World War II. He was very proud to serve his country, and he was rewarded the Bronze Star. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 43 years and then he retired. Marne married Betty Leniger in 1951 at Reno, Nev. He had two years of junior college and two years of law school.
Marne was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church of Kerrville. He moved to Kerrville in 1991 from Mexico. Marne loved to read, tell stories and was a big history buff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and Norman Bass; and two beloved pets, Chulie and Pepito.
Marne is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Bass of Kerrville; son, Marne Bass Jr. of California; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Liddle of California; grandson, Greg Liddle of California; and many other family members and friends who love him and will miss him.
Private family memorial services will be at a later date.
