  Notes	Roanoke News, Weldon, North Carolina, Thursday, 30 August 1894 A Sudden Death Mr. Andrew Bass, a well-known citizen of this county, died almost suddenly at his residence at Pierce?s last Saturday morning about on o?clock, of heart failure, aged about 65 years. The deceased has had rheumatism for quite a number of years and has been in bad health. Friday night he retired, feeling as usual, about midnight he began coughing and complained of being in great pain. The family physician, Dr. Zollicoffer, was summoned, but Mr. Bass died long before the physician reached his bedside. He lived about one hour after the spell of coughing came on. He leaves a wife and large family of children and also many relatives and friends in this county and elsewhere to lament his death. His remains were laid to rest Sunday in the family burying ground near his late residence.
