Dorsey Bass Jr.
DORSEY BASS JR., 64, U.S. Postal Service retiree, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Dorsey was born in Huntington on Aug. 23, 1948, to the late Dorsey Bass Sr. and Ruth Dalton Bass. He was a 1966 graduate of Huntington High School and served in Vietnam. Dorsey used his God-given musical ability throughout his life serving as organist and choir director for decades and as a gospel DJ on Marshall University radio for 16 years. He composed more than 100 inspirational songs. He is survived by a daughter, Danee Bass of Huntington; three sisters, Nella Cottman of Philadelphia, Carol Chambers of Huntington and Faye Bashir of Atlanta. His wife, Carmen Renee Bass, preceded him in death. In addition, he leaves to mourn a fiancée, Faye Barnes of Chillicothe, Ohio, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. Funeral services will be held at noon at The Original Glorious Church of God in Christ, 1516 10th Ave., on Saturday, Sept. 1. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
