He was the son of the late Bishop Sidney and Sally Bass. Survivors include his wife, Mary F. Bass; stepmother, Margaret L. Bass, all of Roanoke; one son, Dorsey (Renee) Bass, Jr., of Huntington, W. Va.; three daughters, Nella (George) Cottman, of Philadelphia, Penn., Carol (Chris) Chambers, of Huntington, W. Va., Faye Bass Bashir, of Atlanta, Ga.; stepdaughters, Francine Alexander, of Columbus, Ohio, Helen (Richard) Whiteside, of Roanoke; one brother, Bishop Sidney (Mary) Bass, of Huntington, W. Va.; two sisters, Margaret Jackson, of Rand, W. Va. and Bertha Nowlin, of Cleveland, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 21, 1999, at 2:30 p.m. at Glorious Church of God, 1830 Hanover Ave. N.W., Roanoke with Pastor Martha Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral hour. Friends may call at Serenity Funeral Home, Monday, 12 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home.
