William McDuffy Bass
REIDSVILLE - William Mc Duffy Bass died Saturday, March 2, 2013. As a native and resident of Rockingham County for the majority of his life, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1941. He pursued further education at Hampton University and N. C. A & T State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1952. With courage and tenacity, he served his country during World War II in the medic division and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. Following many years of dedicated service as a manager, he retired from the North Carolina Alcohol Beverage Control. Spiritually, he was an ardent member of Danbury Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Treasurer and clerk. He was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 199 and the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors are: daughters, Laverne M. Bass and Gaynelle B. Nichols (Harold); grandchildren, Nichole, Brittany and Garland; sisters-in-law, Ludella Williams and Agrippa Bass; special friend, Raymond Millner; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 from the Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church, 9892 Highway 700, Pelham. The family visitation will be Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church and may be contacted other times at 4107 High Rock Road, Gibsonville.
