He was 71. Mr. Bass was born in Ben Wheeler, Texas, and moved to Martins Mill from Trenton 3 years ago. He was a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring as a commander after 30 years of service. He was a member of Martins Mill Baptist Church in Texas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Nichols Bass; his parents, Dewey and Vera Bass; and a sister, Sue Schaefer. Survivors include his wife, Lillie M. Bass of Martins Mill; two daughters, Sandra K. Collier of Jacksonville and Cindy Watson of Trenton; three stepdaughters, Teresa Riggs and Beth Long, both of Trenton, and Connie Conley of Chiefland; two brothers, Don Bass of Dallas and Felix Bass of Ben Wheeler; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
