Robert Eugene Bass, age 37, of Johnson City, Kansas, went to walk with the Lord Thursday, June 14, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born June 24, 1974 in Great Bend, Kansas the son of Horace F. Bass and Margaret (Osburn) Appleton.
Robert graduated in 1994 after an accident left him a quadriplegic. He worked as a receptionist at Stanton County Hospital and in customer relations at the Center For Independent Living in Garden City. Robert touched the lives of many people with his smile and sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, camping out, and hanging out with his friends.
Robert is survived by his family, friends, and caregivers. Survivors include his mother, Margaret Appleton of Lovington, New Mexico; loving sister, Robin Kempke and husband Brad of Johnson City, Kansas; his devoted brothers, Roger Bass and wife Misty of Wichita, Kansas, David Bass and wife Natalie of Hobbs, New Mexico; his loving foster mom, JoAnn Hyde; his beloved son, Justin Rodriguez; three step-daughters, Alexandra Specht and husband Jason, Shaneise Stum and husband Kirby, and Jordan Trujillo of Towner, Colorado; ten nieces and nephews, three grandchildren; along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.
Robert is preceded in death by his father, Horace Bass; grandmother, Vera Osburn; and foster father, Paul Hyde.

JOHNSON CITY -- Robert Eugene Bass, 37, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at his home in Johnson City.
He was born June 24, 1974, in Great Bend, to Horace F. Bass and Margaret Osburn Appleton. He graduated in 1994 after an accident left him a quadriplegic.
Mr. Bass had worked as a receptionist at Stanton County Hospital and in customer relations at the Center For Independent Living in Garden City.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Appleton of Lovington, N.M.; a sister, Robin Kempke of Johnson City; two brothers, Roger Bass of Wichita, and David Bass of Hobbs, N.M.; his foster mother, JoAnn Hyde; a son, Justin Rodriguez; three stepdaughters, Alexandra Specht, Shaneise Stum and Jordan Trujillo of Towner, Colo.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; his grandmother, Vera Osburn; and his foster father, Paul Hyde.
A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. today at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson City.
