Services for Garland Bass age 85, of Palestine will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Christ Community Church with Rev. Clinton Bass officiating. Private family burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery in Van Zandt County. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Bass joined the Lord Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his residence. He was born January 27, 1931 in Cayuga to Robert and Mamie Riley Bass. Early in his career Mr. Bass worked for Coca-Cola, then Industrial Towels where he learned to play the harmonica while he was driving. A large portion of his career was with Washington National selling life insurance. He and his wife then owned ?The Way Station? for 10 years before he fully retired.
Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Martee Jo Bass, a son Gordon Bass and wife Donna, three daughters Renee Gaines and husband Jeff, Tanja Hamilton, Michelle Rolen and husband Dewayne, two adopted daughters, Barbara Bowermaster and Brandy Freeman, seven grandchildren, Amy Messersmith, Clint Bass, Rockee Hamilton, Kari Warren, Eric Gaines, Caleb Rolen, Danielle Buchanan and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
