He was 74, a native of Ennis, Texas, and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired state employee and a member of the National Guard. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday until religious services at 2 p.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by three sons, Sam Bass III and John P. Bass, both of Baton Rouge, and Michael J. Bass, Pleasanton, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Bryan P., Jason J., Jamie L. and Julie L. Bass, all of Baton Rouge, and Michelle Scivicque, Pleasanton. Preceded in death by wife, Clemence Roth Bass; and a brother, Pat Bass. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association.
