She was 94. She was born in East Weymouth and lived there for more than 50 years. She lived in Dorchester for 40 years before moving to Canton three years ago. Mrs. Bassett was on the state Democratic Committee for more than 30 years and was active in the Trappist Monks Building Fund. She also was a member of the Friends of the Queen of the Apostle Seminary in Dedham and was active for many years in their fund raising programs. She leaves four sons, Eugene F. of Arlington, John E. of Florida, Harold of Canton and William P. Bassett of Texas; three daughters, Margaret E. Kane, Mary F. Willard and Eleanor S. Bassett, all of Canton; 29 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be said Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Gerard Majella Church, Canton. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, East Weymouth.
