Mrs. A.C. Bass Called by Death
Mason City friends were both shocked and given by the news of the death of Mrs. Alice Agnes Bass at her home in Lincoln, at an early hour Saturday morning, August 24th. Known here in her earlier years as Alice Jordan. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mrs. Jordan, and was born on her parents homestead in Elk Creek precinct. Later the family moved nearer town, and she attended the Mason City schools.
She leaves her husband, one son, Leo Peebles of Dunbar, a sister, Mrs. Mary Kuster, Palm Springs, Cal., and two brothers, William Jordan of Grand Island and Frank Jordan of Chicago.
During the years of Mrs. Bass? residence in Mason City she had an active part in church, school and other activities pertaining to the interest and welfare of the community, and left behind her hosts of friends. These activities were continued in other places where she lived, including at her last home in Lincoln.
Mrs. Bass was born May 10, 1884, and was aged 51 years 3 months and 13 days. She was married to Mr. Bass on July 8, 1931.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were Dr. and Mrs. T.W. Bass of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jordan of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Kuster of Los Angeles, Cal., Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jordan of Grand Island; Mrs. Sarah Quirk and Mrs. John Quirk of Chicago; J.F. Peebles of Chicago; Mrs. W.A. Richardson of Thedford; Leo Peebles of Dunbar.
Pallbearers were F.M. O?Brien, J.C. Nelson, C.I. Narragon, Chas. E. Carroll, Geo. J. Anderson, Wright Runyan.
