Arthur Lee Bass (Picture included)
January 29, 1932 ? June 16, 2012
Arthur Lee Bass was born January 29, 1932, the second child to Mr. Ben and Mrs. Nellie Bass in Bassfield, MS. His parents and one brother, Reedus Bass, preceded him in death.
Upon completing his education at Carver High School, he joined the United States Army in 1952. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Arthur moved to Chicago in 1954.
Having been raised on Godly principles, Arthur trusted God that He would send him a suitable helpmate. One who would adapt herself to him, respect, prefer, and esteem him, stand firmly by his side, united in spirit and purpose, having the same love and of one harmonious mind and intentions. God rewarded his faith and sent him Lola Lee McLeod. Arthur and Lola became husband and wife in September 1957.
Because Arthur was an ambitious person, he began working in the Chemical Department of Lever Brothers Company, Chicago, IL in 1954. After a very successful career at Lever Brothers, he retired in 1995 and returned to his birthplace, Bassfield, MS.
Arthur professed his faith in the Holy Trinity early in life and was baptized into to the body of believers at St. Paul M. B. Church in Bassfield, MS. His desire to stay connected to the body of Christ led him to unite with Maple Parks C. M. E. Church in Chicago, IL. After he returned home, he reunited with St. Paul M. B. Church and served on the Trustee Board.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lola Bass; one son, Arthur Lee Bass, Jr. (Paula), Zion, IL; one daughter, Anease T. Stubbs (Charles), Bassfield, MS; grandchildren, Latasha, Roshonda, Devonshae, Arthur Lee, and Lee Arthur; great-granddaughte, Kierra; sister, Eva B. Ruffin (Jessie), New Orleans, LA; brother, Ben Earl Bass (Lola), New Orleans, LA; sister-in-laws, Genevie Kyle, Compton, CA and June Bass, Chicago, IL. A brother-in-law, Robert Kyle preceded him in death. Arthur is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
