Bass Dies At Siler City Home Retired Minister is Said to Have Been Associated With Bryan in Washington (Special to Daily News) Siler City, March 19.-Rev. L.D Bass, D.D., 76-year-old retired minister, said to have been associated intimately with William Jennings Bryan in Washington, D.C., at one time, died at his home here at a 6 o?clock this morning after illness of one week with pneumonia. The preacher moved here from Sanford a year ago, and details of his former position at the national capital were not know to friends here. Funeral service will be conducted in the Siler City Baptist church Thursday morning at 9 o?clock, officiating ministers including Rev. J. C. Canipe. Rev. H.N. Byerly of Bonice, and Dr. R.C. Gilmore, of Sanford. The body will be shipped to Laurens, S.C. for interment. The deceased is survived by his second wife, who was Miss Elizabeth Hunter, of Laurens, S.C., and four children of his first wife, who died 15 years ago. The children are Joe Bass, of Philadelphia; George Bass, of Memphis, Tenn.; Mrs. B.C. Barksdale, of Sanford; and Miss Eloise Bass, of Sanford.
