Phyllis M. Bassett
Hastings resident Phyllis M. (Brouillette) Bassett, 79, of Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Perkins.
Rosary is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home Chapel in Hastings. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings with the Revs. Larry Gyhra and Tom Brouillette officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bassett was born April 16, 1921, to Joseph and Natalie (Breault) Brouillette in Campbell. On May 28, 1940, she married James L. "Vern" Bassett in Hastings. She was former owner of Phyls Beauty Salon in Hastings and co-owner of Beauty Center Salon and Merle Norman Cosmetics, both in Hastings.
She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She was a past member of Nebraska State and National Hairdressers and Cosmetology Association Hastings Unit No. 14.
Survivors are her husband; one son, Tom of Republican City; one daughter, Kathy Shafer of Trumbull; two sisters, Helena Miller and Augustine Consbruck, both of Hastings; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother.
Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Renovation Fund.
